Pop Shops still Popping up in the Fashion Industry

In his book 'The New Rules of Retail' Robin Lewis describes "Pop Shops" as more of a proactive distribution strategy rather than the marketing opportunity many retailers once positioned them as. Designer Todd Snyder is banking on this concept as his 'Todd Snyder General Store' pop shop continues it's stay at Adam et Rope Biotop in Tokyo. With a 30% sell through in the first week, he's off to a good start. The former J. Crew senior vice president of design launched his line this fall and industry reaction to the collection has been strong. The line includes knits, jackets, suits, Japanese denim, sweaters and oxfords with a heavy influence on English-style menswear tailoring. In addition to the Tokyo pop-shop the line is also carried at Bergdorf Goodman, Nieman Marcus, Odin, Ron Herman and Unionmade.
