Somerset House to feature Valentino exhibit

London's Somerset House will celebrate Italian designer Valentino with a special exhibit featuring couture creations on display starting November 29, 2012 and running through March 3, 2013. The exhibit will include dresses worn by noteworthy fashion icons including Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Visitors will be taken on a style journey through Valentino's world of fashion starting from the 1950's and leading up to present day designs. The garments will be grouped by theme and the exhibit will include a 60 meter catwalk and interactive multi-media components.

Divided into three sections, the "Valentino: Master of Couture" exhibit will begin with personal photographs from the designer's archive offering an intimate portrait of the life of the master. The exhibition then unfolds into a couture fashion show where roles are reversed and visitors peruse the catwalk to view 130+ Valentino haute couture designs. The final section of the exhibit will showcase the painstaking process of crafting couture, demonstrating the intricate work of the "les petit mains" who sew each stitch by hand. The exhibit closes with a Virtual exploration of Valentino Garavani. Accompanying the exhibit will be a series of talks, special screenings and fashion events.

Tickets will go on sale in late August. For more information visit the Somerset House website or follow on Twitter @SomersetHouse using hashtag #ValentinoExhibition.
