5 Fall Favorites

I love the start of a new season. It's an opportunity to make seasonal updates on everything from your wardrobe to your make-up and possibly even your point of view. This fall is all about having fun with fashion. Taking risks with color, texture and shape in an effort to spice things up for as the leaves on the trees begin to dwindle and the temperatures start to drop. Here are 5 things I'm loving for fall.

For many, many years my go-to fall fragrance was always Thierry Mugler's Angel. I was borderline obsessed with the soft notes of honey, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Clearly I have a sweet tooth. Every time I put a spritz of Angel it always felt like fall. I've finally found an "Angel Update" that gives me the same sensation, Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Packaged in a sleek black bottle this glamourous fragrance has notes of Vanilla, Citrus, Black Gardenia, Sandalwood and of course, Orchid. If you loved Angel, this may just be your new favorite fall fragrance.

There's something very feisty about red lips. They are so much fun to wear and perfectly compliment my leopard print sweater for fall. Personally, I'm more of a gloss girl, so I instantly fell in love with the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipgloss. It's a gloss and a stain in one so it gives really great color with a lot of shine. And the best part? It's long wearing so the rich color lasts all day.

This next personal favorite is good for any season but particularly useful for fall: the basic black tee. Finding one that fits right, looks great and goes with everything can sometimes be like going on a hunt to find a diamond in the rough, but trust me, when it happens- it's golden. I found my perfect black tee at Zara on a recent trip to London and it's worth it's weight in gold. A great black tee works as a great backdrop for existing pieces in your wardrobe that require support like statement jewelry (as shown above), loud prints, and exotic textures.

In the Northwest fall is all about escaping the elements and getting cozy with great friends, good food and inviting interiors. One of the sure fire ways to make it feel like fall at my house is with beautiful, scented candle that gives off a warm glow. One of my favorites is the line of candles and home fragrances by Harman London. Each candle is hand-poured and has a burn time of 50-60 hours.

Last but not least, my final fall favorite is The Bar Method workout. Yes, it's been around for awhile and celebs like Drew Barrymore and Tori Spelling rave about it, but it's one of those things you have to experience for yourself to truly understand what the buzz is all about. I stepped into a studio three weeks ago to check out a trial class and instantly fell in love. Since then I've been in class at least 4-5 times per week and it's safe to say I'm addicted. As a little girl I did tap and ballet and later moved on to gymnastics in junior high so being back in the studio feels like coming home.  I'll admit, the workouts are intense but the sense of accomplishment you feel when you leave class is such an amazing reward.
