Fashion Recap: Gray conversations

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a Gray Conversations "Learning from Tech: Dispatches from Design's Next Frontier" event at Hotel Sorrento that focused on the future of design and its complex relationship with technology. Featured panelists included Joey Rodolfo of Buki, Plamena Milusheva of Lmn Architects, Matt McElvogue of Teague 1926, Mike Harnisch of Microsoft, and Surya Vanka of Authentic. The discussion covered a variety of thought-provoking topics including virtual reality, the democratization of the arts, the threats technology poses to the creative process for designers, and an interesting take on the role robots will play to consumers of the future. The dialogue throughout the evening ranged from way over my head from a tech perspective to surprisingly funny. Technology truly does influence every design discipline and is changing the way we interact with not only the technology itself but also each other. The event was one of the best panel discussions I've been to in a long time (and that's coming from someone who goes to a LOT of events). Major kudos to the Gray magazine team including Stacy Kendall who pulled off an amazing event! Check out the line-up of future Gray conversations here.
