Dancing into the holidays with The Nutcracker

The holidays are my favorite time of year and I'm always looking for new and special ways to celebrate the season. I recently had the chance to experience the opening night of The Nutcracker at Pacific Northwest Ballet with my four-year-old daughter and it's safe to say that the magic of the night has sparked a new holiday tradition for our family.

The choreography done by George Balanchine was incredible and my daughter equally loved the performances of both the Mouse King and Sugar Plum Fairy. The music was fantastic and getting to experience the full orchestra live was an experience I'll never forget.

The last time I went to the Nutcracker I was in high school. My grandmother was visiting from Texas and she wanted to give me a night on the town. I remember getting dressed up for the show and insisting that I get to bring a friend. Clearly, some things never change because this time around I brought my best friend Jessica and her daughter Maya (shown above) to enjoy the show with us. It was an unforgettable night that we will cherish for many years to come.

The Nutcracker is a beautiful holiday tradition and the Pacific Northwest Ballet delivers an incredible performance, every time. McCaw Hall is decked out for the holiday season and there are whimsical photo opps everywhere. Use promo code NutSocial for 15% off tickets to The Nutcracker. The show runs through December 28th. Don't miss your chance to see this beautiful production with your family. Oh, and pro tip: don't forget to pre-order your wine for intermission.

Happy holidays!
