Save the date: The Gilt City Warehouse Sale is coming soon

Gilt City will be hosting it's first Seattle warehouse shopping sale on Friday, July 26th at 415 Westlake in South Lake Union. This not-to-be missed event will feature deep discounts on Gilt's top designer brands for men, women and kids. Some items will be marked down as much as 90% off retail! According to Vogue, Gilt City  shopping events channel the "online shopping phenomenon" and bring it offline where shoppers can peruse a curated mix of Gilt City brands right in their own communities.  The merchandise mix will include apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, home furnishings including bedding, kitchen and bath accessories, home decor and much more from brands like Helmut Lang and Brian Atwood. In addition to an awesome assortment of merchandise guests will enjoy music by a live DJ, refreshments by Coco Cafe and AQUAhydrate, an on-site photo booth, and an on-site bar sponsored by La Marca Prosecco. The event runs from 5pm-12:30am and tickets to the Gilt City Warehouse Sale range from $5-10. Early admission access is already sold-out! City City Seattle Curator Rebecca Skidmore offers a few helpful hits on how to shop the sale:

#1- Leggings and tank tops- Wear tight fitting clothing like leggings and tank tops so that you can quickly and easily try on clothing at the sale. But don't worry- fitting rooms will also be available. 

#2- Easy Shoes- There's going to be some amazing shoes at the warehouse sale. Be sure to wear shoes that you can easily slip on and off like a pair of easy flats or sandals. 

#3- Jacket and Purse- All shoppers will need to check their coats and purses at the door. Be prepared and plan accordingly. We suggest wearing something with pockets so that you can easily carry around your credit card, ID and cell phone. 

#4- Go easy on your accessories- Big bracelets, dangly earrings, watches and necklaces will only get in the way of trying new stuff on. 

#5- Plastic- No cash is accepted. Be prepared and bring your credit or debit card to shop.

Stylish new addition to South Lake Union: Gary Manuel Studio

There are so many cool things going on in the development of South Lake Union and the addition of a brand new Gary Manuel Studio is definitely one of my favorites! Innovative, eco-friendly and exciting are just three of the words I would use to describe the new space. Blow dryers hang artfully from the ceiling, Aveda products line the walls and a Wi-Fi bar offers guests a place to plug in. Owners Gary Howse and Manuel Benevich were determined to wait until the perfect location opened up for them to consider expanding their salon to other areas of the city and the brand new South Lake Union neighborhood was a natural fit. "We are so excited to bring Gary Manuel's high quality, personalized Aveda services to the people living and working in South Lake Union!" says co-founder Gary Howse.

Located on Westlake avenue across the street from Serious Pie, the Gary Manuel Studio is over 3,400 square feet of pure brilliance designed by Seattle architectural group Graham Baba. Floor to ceiling windows let in natural light, wood-wrapped walls and ceilings bring the outside world in, and a built-in photo booth greets guests upon arrival to offer an opportunity for those must-have "before and after" photos.

Studio Blow-dry services start at $25 and the experience includes a mini shoulder massage, scalp massage and a relaxing hand massage using Aveda products. This is an easy and affordable way to experience the new salon. I went twice in three days because I loved the atmosphere so much! The staff is friendly, the service is a great value and parking was a breeze. Additional services include haircuts starting at $30, single process color starting at $50 and highlights starting at $80.

Gary Manuel Studio has eco-chic, tech savvy guests in mind and they thoughtfully installed a place for guests to charge their phones and iPads at each station. The salon is also equipped with Wi-Fi making it easy to cruise your favorite fashion sites while getting pampered. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful new salon!

Only Fashion Spoken Here: Celebrating John Doyle Bishop’s 100th Birthday

John Doyle Bishop was a Seattle fashion icon and shop owner from the 1940s until his death in 1980. In the month of his 100th birthday, MOHAI's Costume and Textile Specialist Clara Berg will give a presentation about John Doyle Bishop's life and his contributions to the fashion industry in Seattle.
