Shop Local at Thompson Seattle's Holiday Sip & Shop

After hosting a successful fall fashion series featuring weekly trunk shows, Thompson Seattle and Gossip & Glamour have teamed up again to host a holiday-themed Sip & Shop event featuring 13 local brands on Saturday, December 7th in The Nest. This is a fun and easy way for Seattleites to shop locally this season while supporting some amazing independent brands. The event will take place in The Nest, Thompson Seattle's rooftop bar, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the assortment includes everything from handmade cards to jewelry, women's apparel, men's footwear, skincare, beauty, and more.

Guests will enjoy signature cocktails and The Nest's new fall/winter menu as they meet local founders and shop a curated assortment of holiday gifts. The Sip & Shop runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and free tickets can be found via Eventbrite. Please note, due to the venue, this event is 21+.

Here's an overview of featured vendors:

andieanderin- This local brand designs neckties inspired by influential women from history and today. Featured women include Amelia Earhart, Frida Kahlo, Iris Apfel, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Malala Yousafzai, and more. In the 70's and 80's, women started to work their way up the corporate ladder and would often wear neck bows to emulate men's ties. Today, there's an important resurgence of women empowerment happening and andieanderin wants to continue that conversation by producing neckties that are uniquely inspired by influential women. Each necktie comes with a keepsake box and a storyboard that highlight's the featured woman's accomplishments. Learn more about andieanderin and the history of neckties here

Buki - This Seattle-based brand focuses on luxury technical apparel that combines fiber technology with classic silhouettes. Unlike other technical fabrics that are often coated or dipped, Buki fabrics use state-of-the-art technology to embed technical elements within the fabric so they won't be washed away when garments are laundered. The collection includes clothing for men and women including great gift items like collagen eye masks, scarves, wraps, and beanies.

Guillermo Bravo - When I first saw the debut collection of Guillermo Bravo, I knew we had a hit on our hands. This local brand founded by Luis Velez is not only stylish but it's also sustainably produced. The supply chain is fair-wage and the outsoles of the shoes are even biodegradable. Watch a behind-the-scenes video about the Guillermo Bravo process here.

K Banana - Beauty fans flock to K Banana for all things k-beauty and we're told that the assortment at the Sip & Shop event will not disappoint. Shoppers will find easy gift picks and stocking stuffers including sheet masks, beauty tools, make-up, and fashion accessories. Learn more about K Banana and read the full brand story via Beauty Independent here.

Lois Hill - Known for her contemporary collections of detailed sterling silver jewelry, Lois Hill is passionate about creating timeless accessories that span centuries and continents. Her First Avenue flagship specializes in jewelry, accessories, watches, bracelets, earrings, and cuffs.

Universal Standard - I could go on and on about this amazing size-inclusive brand with local ties, but I'll let the clothing speak for itself. Available in sizes 00-40, Universal Standard is the most size-inclusive brand in the world and they don't cut corners on style. The collection includes everything from t-shirts to denim and workwear essentials, plus activewear, outerwear, boots, and more. Universal Standard also has a revolutionary Fit Liberty Program that lets shoppers buy for the size they are now and then exchange merchandise within a year for free if they go up or down a size. The program was also recently expanded to also include moms. Trust me, you're going to want to see this cool brand at the Holiday Sip & Shop event.

Poppyseed - We heard through the grapevine that this is Poppyseed's one and only holiday pop-up this year, so don't miss out on experiencing this innovative local brand. The entire collection is designed and produced right here in Seattle by founder Rebekah Adams, who you may remember from the 6th Annual Independent Designer Runway Show in Bellevue. She won the competition with her 'Break the Surface' collection and has been creating beautiful new works of art ever since.

Varnish - This cool Seattle company just opened a brand new nail studio in the heart of Sodo and has been popping up all over the city ever since doing fresh manis and incredible nail art. Founder Kim Sop will be at the Holiday Sip & Shop event offering $15 manicures to help get your nails ready for the holiday season.

Two Cranes Botanicals - Ok, there's just no other way to say this: Two Cranes Botanicals has been a lifesaver for me. Their organic, single-source origin CBD oils have helped me get through some crazy stressful days and come out the other side calm and grounded. As a business owner and a mom of two young kids, adding CBD oil to my daily self-care routine has been a total game-changer. Founded by local twins Hanna and Susun, Two Cranes Botanicals offers organic CBD oils in three different concentrations including 300 mg, 725 mg, and 1000 mg. Meet Co-Founder Hanna Yi at the Sip & Shop event and check out the full assortment of CBD products that also make excellent gifts.

Sad Shop Cards - I first got introduced to this local card line through fellow PR babe Crosby Noricks of PR Couture. Designed and produced in Seattle by founder Katie Davis, the entire collection of Sad Shop Cards is wildly funny and somehow manages to capture the perfect sentiment for any occasion.

LUMVI Skincare - The skin is the body's largest organ, so it goes without saying that anything you apply topically gets absorbed into the bloodstream. Lumvi Skincare wants to help beauty fans close to loop between a healthy lifestyle and a clean skincare routine that is simple yet effective. The product line is 100% plant-based, organic and chemical-free. My personal gift pick for the season is the Detox Scrub made with green tea, rosemary, and white willow. Stop by the Sip & Shop event to meet co-founder Lauren Vogt and learn more about this fabulous new local line.

Moorea Seal - Often described as a "Pinterest board come to life", Moorea Seal's store in Downtown Seattle has something for everyone on your holiday list including books, jewelry, shoes, candles, accessories, and even home accents. She participated in the Holiday Sip & Shop event last year and trust me, I almost bought one of everything. Her curated assortment of gifts is amazing and Moorea is a delight in person, too.

Velé - This cool travel accessories brand is on a mission to redefine industry practices in an effort to empower women through a model of conscious production and non-profit partnership. With a focus on ethical craftsmanship, Velé ensures that artisans who produce every piece of their collection earn fair living wages and have safe working conditions. They also donate 10% of every purchase to the non-profit Not for Sale, an international organization that works to end modern-day slavery. The collection includes wallets, cross body bags, and leather cardholders. Take a look behind-the-scenes of how the cardholder is made here.
