London Fashion Trend: The Collar

London: Day Seven

Seven days in and still going strong. I think I could get used to London life....

Why wear a collar when you can have on already attached to your shirt? Embellished with rhinestones is the only way to go this season. The "Peter Pan" collar is all the rage here in London.

Blue. It's everywhere and looks great on just about every skintone. Pick a piece that suits you and add some color to your life. Blue is absolutely the color of the season.

H&M has some great merchandise in stock now. I love this lace coral dress with 3/4 sleeves. It's super easy to wear and looks adorable when paired with a pearl collar (as pictured above).

The Varsity Jacket gets an update this fall with leather sleeves, as pictured above at H&M.

There are three big trends to notice here: Sequins, the Statement Necklace and potentially the side ponytail.

London: Day Six

London is such a great place for fashion inspiration and adventure.
Here are some of the things we spotted today.

It doesn't really matter the season, I love a great fitting short-sleeved dress. Update with season specific accessories, in this case, the pearl collar for Fall '12, and you're set.

Rock & Roll with a twist.

The printed pantsuit as seen at Mango in Covent Garden

Collars in the form of necklaces are being shown in nearly every boutique in London. Use them to dress up a t-shirt, sweatshirt, a pretty summer dress or even a sweater.

To celeberate the launch of the David Beckham Bodywear for H&M, a 10 foot silver statue of the soccer star wearing nothing but boxer briefs.

Located near the Marble Arch the Cumberland Hotel is situated at the West end of Oxford Street. I stayed here on my Honeymoon in 2009 and have loved it ever since.

Beautiful yellow brick building in Neal's Yard, Covent Garden

The Agyness Deyn x Doc Martin Collection is in stores now. The collaboration includes clothing, footwear and accessories.

London: Day Five

On Day Five in London we hit Liberty, one of the cities premier department stores that has been located in the heart of London since 1875. This store is a must-see situated in a beautiful Tudor building on Regent Street.

The blouse is here to stay (at least for another season). Crisp collars, ruffles, sheer and opqaue textures- there's something for everyone.

The vintage clothing section at Liberty of London is run by The Dress Box. The section features coveted pieces including Louis Vuitton luggage, Chanel handbags and Hermes accessories.

Colored denim will need to make room for printed denim in your wardrobe this fall. Cheetah is a good choice and looks suprisingly toned down with a basic black tee.

Tribal print denim is another favorite for fall, part of the boho chic trend. This look pairs nicely with ankle boots and a military jacket.

The statement necklace has come back around (or maybe it never left). This season you'll need to choose betweetn the statement necklace and the collar.

Vivienne Westwood PVC high heels with pearl ankle embellishments.

Marni fur coat with contrast collar.

The biker jacket is back in a big way. This one by Acne features a detachable upholstory quality fur collar.

Military Chic. Love this olive green Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag, spotted at Liberty.

Shoes from the Liberty + Nike Collab. Lots of really lightweight shoes in beautiful colors and patterns.

More is more. Or so it seems this season. Lace and chains on handbags complete a super luxe look.

Blazers are one of the key items for fall coming in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures.

Snakeskin accessories are the perfect way to add interest to your wardrobe. Love this black reptile skin iPad case (pictured left).

Selfridges opens The Beauty Workshop

Just a little over a month ago Selfridges opened it's much anticipated Beauty Workshop, a Sephora-like space featuring multiple beauty, skin and haircare brands and services. Featured brands include Stila, Young Blood, Bourjois, The Organic Pharmacy and Bumble & Bumble.

Women can get a manicure at The Paint Shop with a variety of polishes including Butter London or recuperate from retail therapy with a massage, facial or eyelash extensions.

Phase Two of The Beauty Workshop will include a Hershesons Blow Dry Bar, scheduled to open in September.

Now you'll never have to leave Selfridges again!

Paris Day One

Fall Fashion Notes: Paris Day One

A polka dot shoe spotted at Printemps as part of the Marc Jacobs + Yayoi Kusama collab for Louis Vuitton.

This dip-dye, cable knit sweater by D Squared looks very fresh for fall.

Yes, it may be a cheap thrill but I do love that most British fashion mags come with free beauty products.

You can't come to Paris without spotting at least one beret. This one was paired with a fur vest for fall.

Fall 2012: T-Shirts and leather jackets. End of story.

Not seeing very much neon in London or Paris but I did spot these neon leather accessories in the menswear department at Printemps.

Loved this combo by Stella McCartney. The sweetheart neckline is one of my favorites!

Casual but super cute. These Havaianas with bows and pearls caught my eye. I could live in these sandals all summer.

Perfect date night outfit: Menswear chic at G Star Raw.

Sneaking a glimpse of the fall The Kooples collection at Printemps. This contemporary French brand is headed to the US this fall.

I can't even lie. I love this clever wolf swimsuit by The Kooples.

Black, yellow and leather jackets with studs as seen at DVF. There's something about the color yellow that makes me smile.

Plaid on Plaid as seen at M Missoni at Printemps in Paris. Love the blonde bobs!
