Versace heads to H&M

Yes, It's true! Versace will soon join the ranks of Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, and Karl Lagerfeld by making a fast fashion debut at H&M with a limited edition collection set to launch November 17th. The line will be available in 300 stores and include clothing for men, women and children, plus a small collection of houseware items. In press interviews Dontella Versace noted that this was a strategic move in order to make Versace available to a younger, broader customer who loves the line but can't afford it. Tory Burch Wins $164M

Although it's unlikely she'll ever see the money, designer Tory Burch has a lot to celebrate. Last month a judge ruled in her favor (to the tune of $164 million) to compensate her for damages in a case involving several online retailers who were found guilty of selling counterfeit Tory Burch handbags, footwear and accessories. The judge also ruled that the 232 websites selling knock-offs be disabled and have their domain names turned over to the designer. In addition, Tory Burch will also have the ability to disable any new websites the defendants create in the future without needing a new lawsuit. Hooray Tory!

Steve Madden Buys Topline

At the end of last month Steve Madden Ltd. bought The Topline Corp., a privately held shoe company based in Washington state for $55 million in cash. Topline's brand names include Report, Report Signature and R2 by Report. In 2010 Topline had a reported revenue of $189 million. The companies didn't clarify the new job for Topline CEO William Snowden, but he said in a statement that he looked forward to working with the Madden team. Steve Madden CEO Edward Rosenfeld said that Topline's private-label business "is one of the best in our industry and is highly complementary to our existing private-label footwear business."

It remains to be seen how the transition will play out. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the Topline corporate office which is based here in Factoria. Is the writing already on the wall that their operations will inevitably be consolidated with the Steve Madden offices in New York? :( I hope not. I have several designer friends who work at the Topline home office.

Mommy Caravan: Now on LIVING SOCIAL

One of my favorite memories from last spring was running around Greenlake in the sunshine with my other mommy friends as part of Beth Baker's 'Mommy Caravan' class. It was a mob of strollers, brand new babies and mommies who wanted to get back into shape and socialize. It was PERFECT! You'll make new friends, feel amazing and learn to run a 5k with your stroller. The best part? No running experience is necessary. Prior to taking this class I was convinced that running just wasn't for me until Coach Beth made me realize how empowering running really could be. The Mommy Caravan experience is now on Living Social for $42 (normally $85), but hurry because the deal is only good for one more day- so act fast!

Not a mom? No worries! Beth also coaches wanna-be runners in her Couch Potato to 5k classes through her other company, Running Evolution.

DELI celebrates 2-Year Anniversary

Seattle menswear boutique DELI celebrated their 2-year anniversary on May 30th and plans to celebrate with clients and fans on Friday, June 17th from 7-10pm. Guests will receive exclusive discounts, signature cocktails by Par 7 Vodka, and get first dibs on special releases brought in just for the anniversary celebration.

DELI is located Downtown across from the Seattle Art Museum and carries independent designers and contemporary lifestyle brands. With a history of family-owned deli's in the Seattle area and an interest in high fashion, owner Max Heigh set out to create a store which merges the two ideals in a unique way. The word "deli" is short for the German word 'delicatessen' and is known as a place to purchase find goods/foods. European delis have an emphasis on top quality foods, hand cut meats, fine wines, and cheeses. On the other hand, Deli's in the US are know as cheap take-out locations; some within grocery stores. His goal is to break this normality and resurface the feel of the original delicatessen while providing an environment which houses top-quality clothing. DELI strives to create a unique experience while showcasing up-and-coming and sought-after brands that provide a positive message through their clothing.
