Fashion Recap: Simone Biles x Athleta Girl Event at U Village

Over the weekend, London and I had the opportunity to host a special Mother + Daughter event at Athleta in celebration of the Simone Biles x Athleta Girl collection. Designed to empower the next generation of strong women, the limited-edition activewear line for girls ages 6-12 features fun colors, breathable fabrics, and built-in reminders that no dream is too big with mantras like "Because I Can" and "The Floor is Yours".

The gymnastics-themed event included movement, music, light bites, bubbles (for the moms), and "Shine Bright" confidence-boosting worksheets for the girls to fill out. Everyone had a great time shopping, socializing, and meeting the team at the University Village Athleta store.

I want to extend a BIG thank you to store manager Kelly King for hosting such a wonderful event and making everyone feel so welcome. Her team did an incredible job leading the girls through gymnastics routines and helping to build their confidence throughout the night. Swag bag sponsors included Aveda, Froglegs, Paint the Town, and Supergoop. Thank you to photographer Vivian Hsu for capturing this event so beautifully!

Here's to raising the next generation of strong, confident, and resilient women who dream big and make the world a better place!

Athleta at University Village has a variety of styles from the Simone Biles x Athleta Girl collection in stock now. The merchandise mix includes t-shirts, tank tops, bike shorts, and more.

Fashion Calendar: Goodwill Glitter Sale

The 33rd annual Goodwill Glitter Sale is going down Nov. 5- 6 at the Dearborn store in Seattle, a.k.a. the largest Goodwill store in the country. We're talking insane prices on designer, vintage, and one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories you won't find anywhere else. What will you find at the sale you ask? Is it worth waiting in line at 5 a.m. to be the first to shop the sale? Yes, yes, and yes. Last year shoppers found everything from Louboutin shoes to Burberry jackets and Coach bags.  A coveted Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress? Yes, those have been known to make appearances at the sale too. Last year's Glitter Sale helped raise funds to support Goodwill's free job training and education programs which served more than 9,700 people in the community and helped over 1,000+ people obtain job placement. This really is shopping for a cause.

The sale runs daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. all weekend long and admission is free, so you can bet there will be a line, but trust us, it's worth the wait. Racks will be re-stocked over the weekend. Oh and the best tip we've heard for finding the coveted designer pieces at the sale? Follow the stylish people around the sale and wait for them to ditch items they've been carrying around.

What: 33rd Annual Glitter Sale
When: Nov. 5 and 6, 2016
Where: Goodwill 1400 S. Lane St. Seattle, WA (Free Parking)
Why: Because proceeds from the sale help support Goodwill's free job training
Time: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
