Fabulous Florals for Spring '13

Spring has made its arrival to Seattle and what better way to celebrate then with these fun floral trends. Whether your heading out for a night downtown with the girls or relaxing at home with a cup of coffee, there’s a way to incorporate this cheerful trend for every occasion- and don’t be afraid to mix and match!

Scarves: Floral scarves are great for Seattle Spring weather and look fabulous with a denim jacket or simple white T-shirt, creating a cute and casual weekend ensemble. Juniper Boutique nestled in the warm and welcoming Madrona neighborhood has a beautiful selection of made by hand floral scarves by the line le.sens out of Germany. Juniper is one of the few shops in the U.S representing the gorgeous line, and were lucky to have them here in Seattle. Definitely step into this charming boutique and check them out.

Pants: Pair floral pants with a crisp white tank and nude colored heels for a look that can be worn day or night. Bliss in Fremont has several beautiful pair’s of floral skinny jeans that could easily be dressed up or down for any occasion.

Shoes: From sky-high heels and chunky boots to chic flats, florals are seen on just about every type of shoe this season. For a laid back look, slip on a pair of floral print tennis shoes with a cute cardigan and skinny jeans. For the undeniably largest selection, Nordstrom is the place to go for floral footwear. We adore this pair of Kate Spade ankle strap wedge sandals!

Dresses: You can’t step into spring without a floral dress in your closet! Dolce Vita in Bellevue has several for the season, as well as a variety of bright floral tops and floral lace peplums. If your out shopping on Capitol Hill, step into Aprie where you’ll find an assortment of cute floral sundresses and accessories as well as the stores in house brand Kiup, which is designed here in Seattle.

Accessories: If you prefer to be a little more subtle, jewelry is a great way to incorporate this bold trend into your wardrobe. Add a surprising accent with floral earrings or a bright floral necklace. Karan Dannenberg Clothier in Belltown has a wide variety of spectacular floral inspired jewelry that will be sure to add a feminine touch to your outfit.

How to: Wear Floral Jeans

Spring flowers are in full bloom and this season your jeans have taken a colorful turn. Prints and patterns are so last season. For spring '13, it's all about the floral jean. There are so many fun ways to embrace this trend. Here are a few of our favorites.

In this colorful scenario, the jeans take a backseat. It's the bright tank and the colorful bag that get all the glory. This is great for anyone who wants to make a big (and colorful) splash into spring.

If you're looking for more of a laid-back look play around with pairing your floral jeans with a basic tee. Chances are you already own a tee that you love and you won't need to fuss with buying extra items to wear with your new jeans. Pair this look with simple sandals and an easy clutch.

The denim shirt is back in a big way for spring. I love the idea of taking a great-fitting chambray shirt and wearing it with a pair of understated floral jeans. The look is laid back but still polished and pulled together.

This last scenario is for the glam girls out there! In this look, floral jeans are paired with a sheer blouse, nude handbag and art deco earrings. This look is very feminine and super sweet for spring!

Spring 2009 Trend: The Bold Cardigan

I love the cardigan trend for Spring '09. It's an easy way to update your wardrobe and the rainbow of colors is a nice escape from the muted fall color palette. Add a colorful touch to a tank top and a pair of denim with a bold cardigan or throw one in your handbag to cover your arms on a chilly spring night.

My top pick is the Jackie cardigan from J. Crew. It's a cotton/nylon/spandex blend with a superfine 14-gauge knit. You can even get it monogrammed for an extra $10 if you like. Cardigan (without monogram) is $59.50.

Spring 2009 Trend: The Romper

Some magazines are calling them short playsuits, others are calling them rompers. Whatever you call them, you have to get one for spring. This is the most fabulous trend we've had in awhile and if you get a great one you can wear it all the way through summer. I like the silk halter style (above) from Top Shop. It has a a great bow detail and a drawstring waist. The best part is, it's machine washable, although I'm sure it's a better bet to wash it by hand and let it dry flat. Pair this with a flat sandal and minimal jewelry and you're ready for a night out.

Dolce & Gabbana Pajama Trend Alert

Pajamas in the daytime remind me of the childhood movie Peter Pan but somehow Dolce & Gabbana fused that concept with Far East inspiration for their spring/summer collection of sexy pajamas. Magazines including Harper’s Bazaar claimed it was a way to reinterpret the tuxedo for 2009. You be the judge. I happen to know quite a few people who would find any excuse to wear their pajamas all day. I’m sure they will love this trend.

Heelarious Baby High Heels

Well first I have to thank my girlfriend Amy for being pregnant with a little baby girl because otherwise I might not have had an excuse to buy satin pink baby high heels. You may have seen these Heelarious Baby High Heels on The Today Show or in The New York Post (who wouldn't want their baby to be fully decked out in high heels for a long stroller ride in the park?)

I'm happy to annouce that I got the last pair off Amazon.com but don't worry- there's a ton of local boutiques that carry them including Curtsy Bella (2920 NE Blakeley Street). The baby high heels are so popular the staff at Curtsy Bella can barely keep them in stock.

The company is called 'Heelarious' because that's generally people's first reaction when they see babies wearing high heels. For more info check out http://www.heelarious.com/
