Local Stylist Goes Backstage at Armani

Vu Montgomery, local hairstylist and director of education at Obadiah Salon in Bellevue, fulfilled a lifelong dream last week when he worked backstage as part of Armani's hair styling team during the Paris Spring 2010 Couture show.

"As a young stylist twenty years ago, I had always dreamed of an opportunity like this, and when I was invited, I felt like I had really made it," says Montgomery when asked for his reaction to being invited by Oribe to be part of the stylist team.

Practice sessions, lasting up to 10 hours for days before the show lent Vu a new found sense of humility as Oribe and Mr. Armani himself would reject hair that wasn't the picture of perfection. “Armani is about perfection, the hair had to reinforce that.”

Catch up with Vu Montgomery at Obadiah Salon in Bellevue Place. He was voted as Seattle Magazine’s 2008 Best Stylist and his work has been featured in many salon industry publications.
