Wedding Bells Ring at Urban

A new concept that will focus on wedding gowns, special occasion gifts and related items will be rolled out by Urban Outfitters next year. According to a recent earnings call the concept will launch online for Valentines Day 2011 and concept stores will be rolled out shortly thereafter. Glen Senk, the CEO for Urban Outfitters estimates that the wedding business will be worth at least $500 million.  Wedding gowns in Urban's new concept will be priced anywhere from $1,000-$5,000. Women's Wear Daily reports that the dresses will be designed by the Anthropologie team and selected guest designers.  Bridesmaid dresses, fine jewelry, accessories, shoes, invitiations and bridal registry gifts will also be part of the product assortment for the wedding concept.

Can I tell you how shocked I was that Anthropologie doesn't have a gift registry when I was getting married last year? With all of that cute household stuff how could they not before now? I ended up using myregistry.com to register there, but I'm glad to see they are finally doing something about this!
